2016 Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar

Day 5: Hoth gun turret Not a particularly interesting one today. A gun turret from Echo Base on Hoth. A bit finicky to put together for big fingers and the end result is a little disappointing. Still, we seem to have moved onto Rebel stuff now so I’m curious to see what comes next. #starwars #lego #advent2016 #celticonphotography

Day 8: 1.4 FD P-Tower Had to look this one up (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/1.4_FD_P-Tower). This particular blaster has been modified to fire snow balls. Definitely need to get some rebel minifigures soon to start balancing out the force and stuff.

Day 13: Battle droid These guys were really annoying in the movies. They tried to inject a comic element with the silly voices and slapstick behaviour. As such, this guy has been taken off any assault activities and put on coffee serving duty. So far he hasn’t messed up. Note: The coffee mugs and serving table are not part of this set. The droid comes with a couple of spare arms and a gun.

Day 14: Obi Wan’s ship from Episode II Here he is having just evaded Jango Fett who was chasing him in Slave I through an asteroid field. I think they could have picked something a lot more iconic to include in the calendar. It’s not like there’s a shortage of material.

Day 15: Tantive IV Today brings us another ship and it’s the one that Leia is captured on in A New Hope. This is the first ship that was presented to audiences back in 1977. See at 2m10s here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHfLyMAHrQE The ships are mostly pretty cool and it’s interesting to see how they go about presenting them in mini size, but I think we’ve had enough for this advent calendar.

Day 17: Power Droid. This is a cute little guy though he reminds me more of an early film camera with legs than a droid. In order to Christmas things up a bit I’ve given him this little house to power. That’s his job for the next week or so. Seven remaining. We know one is the snow Wookie and one is a sled. Looking forward to seeing what else we get.

Day 20: Desert skiff So the general consensus on today’s build is that it’s the ship that Luke has to walk the plank on and end up in the Sarlacc where he would be digested for a thousand years, etc, etc. I’m not entirely convinced but in the absence of a better suggestion we’ll roll with it. The general shape, the side platform (although it’s on the wrong side in the instructions) and the appearance of that Luke minifig yesterday all point to the skiff but I would have expected them to do a much better job of making it look right, even if only in colour. That said, if you consider this to be a mini version of the actual Lego skiff rather than a mini version of the one in the movie then it makes a bit more sense. #starwars #lego #advent2016 #celticonphotography

Day 22: Sentinel Class Landing Craft Nearly finished with this year’s calendar and today we have a Sentinel Class landing craft (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sentinel-class_landing_craft) which has been repurposed by the folks over at Amazon Galactic (www.amazongalactic.com) to deliver Christmas presents. #starwars #lego #advent2016 #celticonphotography

Day 23: Equipment transporter Second last day and we have a very cool equipment transporter being used to move ice hockey gear around. Unfortunately I only got three skates in the bag but it was still enough to set up a little one-on-one game for the lads. Only one day left. Would like to hear what you think of this year’s calendar. #starwars #lego #advent2016 #celticonphotography

Day 24: Snow Wookie As expected we have the snow Chewbacca today. He’s a nice little chap with a working snowball crossbow. Even though we knew it was coming it’s a cool minifigure to end off the calendar with. Hope you’ve all enjoyed exploring this calendar with me. I know I’ve had a lot of fun with it and gotten some great value over the 24 days…. See more

#dadsanddaughters
Daughters and their fathers make for some beautiful photos. Since I got my own little girl I’ve become more aware of the bond that can exist there, how special it is and from my own perspective what a huge responsibility and joy it is.
All great parent/child relationships are wonderful but I can only directly relate to the one I have experience of and that’s the one with my little girl.
I’ll be adding to this gallery as I do more of these.
If you would be interested in doing a #dadsanddaughters photo session please drop me a line. At the moment I am not charging for these sessions as it’s a little project I am doing.
